As featured in DesignandBuildwithMetal, the Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) offers homeowners five tips to beat rising costs as they plan for spring and summer home improvement projects. They say, “It's not only the sticker shock of initial project costs that consumers should be concerned about.” Homeowners need to find ways to reduce or eliminate ongoing costs and try to recoup a return on the investment over time, especially on large-scale projects like re-roofing a home. The five tips include: be your own powerhouse and add a rooftop solar system, guard against ongoing maintenance costs, up the insulation and efficiency, look for installation savings, and plan for the long run.
Earlier this month, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) celebrated their 24th Annual Women in Construction (WIC) Week, a national series of events that recognizes the roles of women in the construction industry. According to NAWIC President Doreen Bartoldus, the theme “Envision Equity,” was chosen to not only focus on bringing equity to women, but to everyone in the industry. WIC Week is designed to expand past just the association and into the construction industry as a whole. Activity from chapters all across the nation elevated and recognized women in the industry by holding special events, fundraisers, education seminars, job site tours and more. Though NAWIC was started in Fort Worth, TX in 1955 and is a National Association, it has grown into a world-wide initiative, powered by their five Global Partners located around the world.
