METALCONLive! FREE WEEKLY EVENT LAUNCHES TO HELP METAL CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY STAY AHEAD OF WORLD HEALTH CRISIS
As news of the pandemic was worsening in March, it became clear METALCON had a unique opportunity to serve the metal construction community in an important way. The team quickly mobilized and launched a FREE “real-time, no BS, weekly live event” just over four weeks ago that will continue as long as there is a need. Led by industry titans, METALCON Co-Founder and CEO, Frank A. Stasiowski, FAIA, in partnership with the Metal Construction Association and Rob Haddock, CEO and Founder of S-5! Metal Roof Innovations, each week they provide real-time updates, share their personal experience and professional perspectives, engage participants with live polling questions, and host top-tier executives from various sectors of the industry as special guests to offer their insights. After four weeks of discussion, the general sense is the metal construction industry remains productive and at work, despite rampant reports of unemployment and shut-downs. Initial feelings of fear have given way to greater optimism. Some key take-aways include the importance of scenario and cash-flow planning, the surge and long-lasting implication of digital engagement in the workplace, new business opportunities that will arise as a result of the crisis, and ensuring proper training and enhancing safety measures at the workplace. Past weeks’ "Re-Ignite Sales Amidst a World Health Crisis" videos and recaps can be found at the METALCON Blog.

No matter where you look, you can find news on how the crisis is impacting the industry. METALCON turns to its partner publications and associations for the most up-to-date information about the crisis. One of these sources is Metal Construction News (MCN), sponsor of the METALCON show guide. MCN has been tracking the industry’s changing attitudes and conditions with surveys– the most recent one published on April 21. Compared to its first survey on March 30, respondents showed greater optimism in the most recent survey. The third Coronavirus Impact Survey will be available May 3 through May 6. Another partner publication issuing updated information is DesignandBuildwithMetal.com, including a list of industry event cancellations due to COVID-19, AIA's Architecture Billings Index and results of a recent Association of General Contractors survey on construction employment data. And for information on the roofing sector, join RoofersCoffeeShop® every Thursday morning (9 a.m. EST), for their weekly “Coffee Conversations,” when the team at RCS video chats with roofing industry and leading professionals in a Q&A format.

NEW PROGRAMMING FOR ARCHITECTS AND WOMEN AT METALCON 2020
Announcing two NEW programs at this year’s show:
“The Architect’s Experience at METALCON” — Given the architects’ critical role in the design and build process, we are currently working with two leading companies in education and training to deliver a combined education and exhibit floor experience exclusively for architects. Architects will receive AIA credit and access to the exhibit hall FREE with registration. Please share this news with your architect colleagues and invite them to attend this year’s show.
“Connect! The Women’s Construction Network at METALCON” — Join us on Tuesday, October 20th (the day before METALCON officially opens) at 2:00 p.m. in the Las Vegas Convention Center for an afternoon of learning, conversation and networking. For the first time, leaders from A/E/C industry women’s associations will come together to help each other create change, drive diversity, ensure equality and influence the industry.
Planning for METALCON’s 30th annual event continues and more than ever, sharing information as a community is vital as we continue to move forward. If you are interested in presenting at METALCON 2020, please submit your proposed title, a 50 – 75 word session description, your biographical details and contact information no later than May 22, 2020. As you consider your proposal, this year’s format requires short, information-packed sessions of either 30, 45 or 60 minutes in length. All sessions will take place in the Exhibit Hall with shorter sessions in the Learning Centers and larger, broader topics or panel presentations 60 minutes in length taking place in the METALCON Theater.
