“Rev up your engines” and get in the “driver’s seat” at METALCON 2022! This is the final week to submit presentation topics. The program committee is seeking dynamic presenters who can educate, engage and inspire attendees of all levels with education that addresses their challenges, upgrades their skills and presents new opportunities in metal construction and design. METALCON is scheduled to take place October 12-14 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
NEW WHITE PAPERS HIGHLIGHT SOLAR PV AND METAL ROOFING
Members of the Metal Construction Association (MCA) along with representatives of the S-5! company recently collaborated on a newly released white paper series on solar photovoltaics (PV) and metal roofing. The series is broken out into three parts including Service Life Comparisons (Part 1), which focuses on solar/roof service life comparisons, Mounting System Methods (Part 2), which explains the common types of PV mounting systems for metal roofs and Mounting System Installation (Part 3) which goes into more detail on the critical technical factors for solar PV systems specific to mounting on metal roofs. This series is part of MCA’s Metal University Online Learning.
Last month, members of the Metal Construction Association convened in sunny Scottsdale for the annual Winter Meeting. Amidst the networking, fundraising, education and planning, a new executive committee and board was announced. Congratulations to James Bush of ATAS International who will continue to serve as Chair of the Executive Committee, along with Vice Chair Brian Partyka of Drexel Metals, Past Chair Ed Karper of Dura Coat Products, MRA President Dick Bus of ATAS International, Market Development Chair, Lee Ann Slattery of ATAS International, Treasurer Chandler Barden of Cidan Machinery, Inc., Secretary Brian Jaks of Green Span Profiles, and Technical Committee Chair David Stermer of Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation. Additionally, MCA presented its annual Patrick R. Bush Service Award to Miguel Pena and its Larry A. Swaney Award to Dale Nelson in appreciation for their service to the association and the metal construction industry.
METAL CONSTRUCTION NEWS CONTESTS SEEKING “BEST OF THE BEST”
Did someone say “Oscar!” Just like with the film industry, it is award season for the metal construction industry. Submissions are being accepted for the MCN Hall of Fame, which represents the most important and innovative leaders of the metal construction industry, Top Metal Builders, which identifies the top 100 metal builders as measured by tonnage and square footage and the Project Excellence Awards, showcases the innovation and excitement of the metal construction industry. Deadlines to submit are March 11 and 18 for the first two contests and September 16 for the Project Excellence Awards.
